Dr. Luis Castro joined Pacific Coast Cardiac & Vascular Surgeons ten years ago and is a partner in the practice. He is Director of Cardiac Surgery at Sequoia Hospital, Chief of Adult Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at California Pacific Medical Center and leads the cardiac surgery program at Peninsula Hospital. Over the past decade, he has performed over 3,000 cardiac operations and has particular interest in mitral valve repair and aortic root reconstruction.
Dr. Castro attended the University of Southern California and Stanford Medical School where he also completed his general surgical training. He returned to the University of Southern California for cardiac fellowship before joining Pacific Coast Cardiac & Vascular Surgeons. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Western Thoracic Surgical Association and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Dr. Castro also serves as a consultant for Medtronic Cardiac Surgery and leads physician training programs focused on minimally invasive valve repair and replacement surgery. He is fluent in Spanish.
